Excellent location with mountain & sea-view, extremely helpful and very friendly staff. Excellent food quality in rather large quantities (also in half board, worthwhile though !) at a very romantic place. Excellent facilities, except for internet. (one PC)
Difficult to reach; only taxi from railway station (6 miles, 18 Euros) or sometimes free shuttle from the hotel, at limited times. (Not during lunch or dinnertime, as whole staff (hotelfamily) is serving and working for the guests) Responsiveness from staff during could be improved, as it took a rather long time after the main course before someone showed up for dessert and/or coffee afterwards.
This is the hotel we will definitely go back to and the place we are recommending to all our friends. The staff was extremelly professional and kind. The hotel's restaurant was among the best I've ever been to, with fresh produce from their own garden and obviously freshly prepared food. We received free upgrade to a superior room, with amazing panoramic views of the Mediterranean. La Riserva is the perfect place for relax, kicking off the shoes and enjoying great views, fantastic food and superb vine.
Quiet, rustic charm. Old fashioned service from charming staff. Beautiful location with wonderful views down the coast to Monaco. I checked in late and left early but I would definitely like to spend more time there. Highly recommended.
Peaceful and beautiful position with panoramic view along the coast. Comfortable suite with all necessary fittings, very clean. Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast included in room price. Dinner and wines very expensive we ate cheaper and more tasteful lunches/dinners in the towns of Sanremo, Bordighera and Ventimiglia. Generally very satisfied with our stay, only the narrow, winding road leading up to the hotel is not for the faint-hearted!
Amazing sea views. Older classical hotel with lots of charm and character. Family run and made to feel very welcome . All staff were very friendly and helpful. We took the 2 bedr apartment because we had our 2 kids with us. Perfect family hotel, nice pool and slide. We loved the breakfasts with the views and the dinners were great also.
It was out of the city, but just what we needed after being busy, go go on our trip. Just sat by the pool and relaxed. Beautiful over looking the water and city
love love love love it. i love every thing about it the food the service . the views are breath taking. the staff are the most freindly i come acros. if you really wana see italy this is it by all means
the drive to get to la reserva di castel is really scarry . but ones you are there it s worth it . really
Charming old hotel with good services and friendly traditional Italian staff. Excellent restaurant with lovely ambiance.
Two km of narrow winding road up the hill to get there.
The staff were very friendly, even re-opened the kitchen especially when we arrived late, the view from the rooms was stunning and the food was outstanding.
The road up to the hotel is a bit hairy at times as the locals assume no-one is coming the other way.
The view here is simply breathtaking. We had dinner here and ordered everything from the recommended page list, and glad we do, the meal is succulent. The pool with a slide looks very inviting too, though we have no time for it.
No a/c. The room we stayed in is in the basement, it is like a bunker for artilleries perhaps in the olden days for this castle turned hotel. The second room has no a/c and it is simply too hot for summer. Though, the master room has a/c. So we end up cramping ourselves in master room.
excellent stay - very good location to have quite evening but easy travel to resorts along the coast - we used train
Antonello the manager could not do enough for us and made our stay that much better. Ran us to the station and arranged for scooter hire. Also delivered our passports back to us when we departed leaving them in the safe!
A little tired
Fantastic views from hotel terraces and our bedroom. Family suite was spacious and could easily sleep 5 in two bedrooms.
Three Star so restaurant available only at restricted hours. No real bar area.
This hotel is one of the most amazing places I have been. The people working there are extremely professional, and seem very proud of their profession. At the same time, they are just enough casual and relaxed to give you the perfect environment for a truly relaxing vacation. Even the fact that the hotel is a little worn down, just adds to the charm of this place. The restaurant serves exellent food, and even if it might be a little pricy, its definately worth it. Me and my girlfriend had an amazing stay at La Riserva di Castell d`appio. Thanks to Antonello, Emilio and all the rest for their excellent service.
Some people might find something wrong here. But we did not find anything that we did not like about this place.
A very welcoming hotel. The staff were very helpful and cheerful. Good food in the restaurant and the most amazing views. Took a little while to find but well worth it. We only stayed one night as we were on our return from Italy by car but would certainly think of staying again if the route took us that way. There were a mixture of ages staying but predominatly families with children of all ages all very well behaved. Plenty for them to do at the hotel as the beach is a bit of a drive away. Comfortable bed and lovely to have a balcony looking out to the sea. Recently refurbished bathroom. Very traditional hotel.
No lift and as I had hurt my back a bit of an issue for me and we were on the 2nd floor! Maybe needs a little updating in the communal areas.
